(BIKE EUROPE) DIEREN, the Netherlands – Only three weeks after Gazelle's announcement of the resignation of its CEO, the Dutch bike manufacturer found a successor. It is Bert Piëst (48). He started yesterday in Dieren, The Netherlands, home of Gazelle.

Piëst has no experience in the bicycle industry. Before he came to Gazelle he was CEO of the Royal Schouten Group. This group of companies was active on the international market with the development, production and marketing of semi fininished products for the food industry. At the end of 2006 Bert Piëst split up the Royal Schouten Group and sold the individual divisions.

Since 2007 Bert Piëst was part-time professor in Strategic Management at the University of Amsterdam.
