CHINA CYCLE 2008 (The 18th China International Bicycle & Motor Fair) ended successfully on April 28. In four days, the show attracted 63963 visitors from 104 nations and regions and 6641 visitors came from abroad. CHINA CYCLE covered 9 exhibition halls with 1100 exhibitors.

IBD market is growing very fast.

Although Speciazlied and Mongoose did not attend the show this year, lots of international brands were represented by their local agents. As the IBD market is booming, there are many more distributors and agents than ever. They represent brands such as BMC, PANARACER, ORBEA, TOPEAK, FSA, CAMPAGNOLO, MAGURA, CONTINENTAL, KUOTA, SKS, PARK TOOL and etc for the first time in our show. The show also attracted lots of cycling fans. Shimano Biker's Festival was recruting onsite and Mr. Colnago braught his first Chinese book of the "COLNAGO BIKES". Many young riders got the book with his autograph. We did see many bike shop owners, bike distributors during the show.

Ebike facing problems.

Everybody was talking about the industry problems such as the high price for raw material, incresing labor cost in China, strong RMB and the problems facing with ebikes in China. The two ebike halls were not full. There were fewer ebike exhibitors and some of them made their stands smaller. Now China exports a few number of ebikes and most company rely on the local marekt. Due to the strict traffic regulation in some areas, the production and cusumption of ebike decreased in 2007.The problems was that most of them product high speed ebikes which can ride at more than 30 km/h. The current national stand is 20 km/h. It is hard time for ebike makers when many city banned high speed ebike.

Interesting side everts.

This year, our show has more side evernts than before. Due to the coming Olympics, we had a big volunteering riding event from the exhibition center to the nearby Century Park. About a thousand riders from different ages joined the riding after the opening ceremony to show their support for the Beijing Olympics. Besides, in Hall W4, there is a big area showing the entries of International Bicycle Design Competition. Lots of new ideas have been shown during the show.
